Can I freeze part of this 2lb salmon fish log? If yes what if the frozen life span? Also once cut in refrigerator who many days for freshness. Normally fish products have a shorter fresh span. Let me know. Thanks.

Hi Lucy, once opened, the recipe should be kept refrigerated and used within 7 days. You can feel free to freeze any unused portions for up to 6 months. When you're ready to use them, simply thaw the frozen portions in the fridge overnight for the next day’s meal. Keep in mind texture and moisture levels may vary after freezing, but this will not change the nutritional value of the food. For any unopened recipes, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator until the sell-by date stamped on the package. Hope this helps!

Some grain free dog food has been associated with cardiomyopathy possibly due to the use of plant based proteins such as legumes. What % of the protein is fish and what % is legume? My dog has cardiac issues so this is important for her.

Hi Mary, Freshpet grain-free recipes do not put dogs at risk to Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). The main component of our formulas is meat, not cereals or pulses. Our diets are more digestible than dry diets and contain higher levels of amino acids and nutrients that help keep healthy hearts. We do offer recipes with grains that do not contain any peas, legumes (green beans), or lentils.
