What results if it is left out of refrigerator?

Hi Barry, thanks for reaching out. Our recipes are made with fresh meats and contain no artificial or chemical preservatives, so they do require refrigeration before and after opening. Since our foods are fresh, we always recommend that they not be left out for longer than 1 hour. Keep our recipes refrigerated and treat them the same way you treat your fresh meats. Hope this helps.

Are the formulas grain free? If so is there taurine added?

Hi Lee, thanks for reaching out. Our offerings include recipes that are grain-free as well as recipes that contain wholesome grains. The Vital Beef and Bison recipe is grain-free. All of our recipes have taurine, as it can be found in meat. Our recipes contain 60-70+% muscle meat, which provides taurine and amino acids, which dogs are normally able to convert into taurine (methionine and cysteine). We do add additional taurine to some of our recipes, and in that case, it is listed on the packaging. We hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact us at https://www.freshpet.com/contact for any further assistance.

Can freshpet vital grain free beef be frozen

Hi Karen, great question! While our recipes are made to be served fresh from the fridge, you can feel free to freeze any unused portions upon opening. Keep in mind that the texture and moisture levels may vary after freezing, but this will not change the nutritional value of the food. For any unopened recipe, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator until the sell-by date stamped on the package. Hope this helps!

Is this a high fat food

Hi Pamela, thank you for reaching out. Freshpet recipes comply with normal fat levels following AAFCO guidelines. The fat content of our Vital Beef and Bison roll is 8.0% as fed and 33.3% on a dry matter basis. We hope this helps!

Has the formula for Vital beef and bison changed? I know the packaging changed, but was curious if the formula changed at all. My dog has food allergies and they have flared up recently. I am trying to determine what may have caused it.

Hi Kristin, we are sorry to hear this happened and truly hope your pup is feeling better. We have recently made some improvements to our Vital Beef and Bison Roll, while continuing to ensure the food remains completely safe for dogs. We've replaced inulin with pumpkin and updated the vitamin and mineral premix added to make our recipes 100% complete and balanced. You can find the ingredients included in our recipes on the back of our packaging and on our website. Feel free to contact us at https://www.freshpet.com/contact for any further assistance.
