My dachshund needs to lose weight. She’s like nine years old. Need a recommendation on the food.

Hi Frank, thank you for your interest in Freshpet. We don't offer recipes specifically intended for weight loss; however, if you know the number of calories your pup should be consuming, we suggest reviewing our packaging or website, https://www.freshpet.com/ for our calorie guidelines. Additionally, we recommend speaking with your veterinarian for information regarding your dog's weight loss, as they would know your Dachshund's health history best. Hope this helps!

Can I freeze Freshpet?

Hi Sharon, great question! While our recipes are made to be served fresh from the fridge, you can feel free to freeze any unused portions upon opening. Keep in mind that the texture and moisture levels may vary after freezing, but this will not change the nutritional value of the food. For any unopened recipes, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator until the sell-by date stamped on the package. Hope this helps!

My chihuahua puppy is 9 weeks old and 1 lb. What's best for her?

Hi Starla, we offer two recipes made just for puppies: our Freshpet Puppy Roll and Vital Puppy Roll. You can check out these recipes here: https://www.freshpet.com/products/grain-free-chicken-beef-salmon-puppy-recipe For pups who weigh 2, 3 or 4 lbs, the general food requirement is approximately ¼ lb (4 oz.) daily as a base diet that should be fed in two servings. You may adjust the serving portions based on your puppy's activity levels and energy requirements. Since you mention your pup currently weighs 1 lb., we recommend consulting your veterinarian for specific feeding guidelines to ensure that all your Chihuahua's nutritional needs are being met. Hope this helps!

Hi Kristina, thank you for your interest in our food. For pups with little to no teeth, we recommend trying our Freshpet rolls. They have a softer texture, making them easier to mash with a fork. Alternatively, simply mash the morsels of the Freshpet Meals so your dog can easily lick and enjoy the food.
