Casper tried your dog food and NEIGHBOR had it and let me try it. He won’t eat it. He doesn’t eat none of the fresh food. I’ve been making my own fresh food and at first like the first two days he ate it now he won’t touch it I don’t know what to do.

Hi Sherri, we're sorry to hear that your pup did not enjoy our recipe. When making a change in diet, we suggest slowly transitioning over 7-10 days to help avoid food refusals and digestive upset, which can occur with a sudden change in diet. To ease the transition, gradually introduce our recipe by mixing a small amount with your dog's current food and then slowly increase the portion of the Freshpet recipe over time. We also recommend consulting your veterinarian, as they would know Casper's health history best. Please feel free to contact us at https://www.freshpet.com/contact for any further assistance. We're here to help.

Is this good for a diabetic dog?

Hi Sandra, thank you for your interest in Freshpet. Our recipes are designed to be 100% complete and balanced; however, they are formulated for the average healthy pet. We do not offer recipes that are specifically designed for diabetes, which means there are no medicinal claims to help a diabetic diet. We do suggest seeking the advice of your veterinarian before starting this or any of our other recipes to ensure it is the right choice for your pup's diet. They’ll know your dog's health and medical history best. We hope this helps.

Hi Charlene, thanks for reaching out. We understand how important it is to carefully choose the right food when you're managing your dog's specific dietary needs. Overall, Freshpet recipes are low in oxalates. While spinach does naturally contain oxalates, we use it only in very moderate amounts. If you're looking to minimize oxalate intake, we recommend choosing recipes where spinach appears further down the ingredient list. We also offer a spinach-free option, our Sensitive Stomach & Skin Chicken Recipe with Pumpkin & Brown Rice: https://www.freshpet.com/products/sensitive-stomach-skin-steam-cooked-chicken-recipe-with-pumpkin-brown-rice. Since every pet's nutritional needs are unique, we always recommend checking with your veterinarian before making any dietary changes to ensure it's the best choice for your dog. We hope this helps.

Got another question? Why isn't there "taurine" in your meals which benefits the heart?

Hi Becky, thanks for reaching out. All our recipes have taurine, as it can be found in meat. Our recipes contain 60-70+ % muscle meat, which provides taurine and amino acids that dogs are normally able to convert into taurine (methionine and cysteine). We do add additional taurine to some of our recipes, and in that case, it is listed on the packaging. Feel free to contact us at https://www.freshpet.com/contact for any further assistance. We'd be happy to help!
