Our Story
At Freshpet, our goal was to revolutionize what we were feeding our pets. Our team came together in 2005 with one goal in mind: To create the healthiest and most nutritious pet food available. As pet food experts and dog lovers as well, we realized that something was missing - there was no fresh, healthy way to feed our pets. Through much determination and a willingness to challenge conventional wisdom, we reached our goal to create a human-quality food for dogs, radically changing everything about pet food along the way.
Working with veterinarians, scientists and nutritionists, we developed a ground - breaking recipe, beginning with fresh meat and the perfect balance of vegetables and rice so dogs get exactly what they need and nothing they do not. A meat-based diet is what nature intended for dogs and is our nutritional philosophy.
The way we prepare and distribute our food is dramatically different, too. We gently cook the food to preserve the essential vitamins and nutrients then immediately refrigerate our products to preserve their freshness. Our products are always refrigerated to preserve freshness. This unique process makes our food not only more nutritious, but also much better tasting. Our preservative-free food is only found in refrigerated cases - where fresh meat belongs.
