Tamar Geller is the founder of The Loved Dog ™ and as a dog expert, has dedicated her life to providing insight to dog lovers with her unique method. The Loved Dog focuses on building a relationship with your dog based on games, clear communication, respect & love.
Called a "life coach for dogs” by Oprah, Tamar prefers the term "well-mannered” to "obedient” and "coaching” to "training.” Geller was featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show” as Oprah’s personal dog coach, training Oprah’s three golden retrievers, and has provided insight to millions of dog enthusiasts nationwide as resident dog expert on "The Today Show” and Animal Planet’s "Who Gets the Dog.” Geller has also been featured on Larry King, 20/20, Regis and Kelly, as well as in the pages of New York Times, GQ, and USA Today, among others. She is the go-to trainer for celebrities such as Ben Affleck, Natalie Portman, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Nicollette Sheridan, and Owen Wilson, among others.
A revolutionary approach
Tamar became interested in dogs as she watched their training while serving as an Intelligence Officer with the elite Israeli Army Special Forces. After finishing her service, she had the extraordinary opportunity to study wolves in their natural habitat, observing that they taught their young primarily through games. Concluding that a dog possesses aspects of both wolf and human toddler, Geller created her innovative and revolutionary approach. Tamar Geller's play-training uses mutual understanding and respect to train dogs—and puts an end to outdated methods that rely on choke chains, prong collars, or harsh and stressful aggression of any kind. Tamar's ground-breaking techniques have won the approval of The Humane Society of the United States, for which she is a longtime advisor.
In 2007, Tamar released her first book “The Loved Dog: The Playful, Non-Aggressive Way to Teach Your Dog Good Behavior” # 2 on The New York Times Bestseller on its first week and her training DVD, “Celebrate Your Dog”.
Tamar and Freshpet joined forces because of their mutual commitment to treating dogs like members of the family. Working together, they developed The Loved Dog Treats to provide dogs with a fresh, high quality treat. |
