Fresh foods belong in the refrigerator. This is why we invested in dedicated Freshpet refrigerators in the pet food aisle. Our foods are made fresh daily and stay fresh because of refrigeration. Many dry and canned pet foods that use chemicals to extend their shelf life, even natural pet foods can stay on the shelf for more than two years. That is not the case with Freshpet. All of our foods have a “Fresh if Used by Date” that is only weeks after being made, not years. Once opened our foods need to be used within a few days up to a week depending on the food.

Since all Freshpet foods are natural and have been only minimally processed they must be kept refrigerated.
